Birthday ni Philip II, King of Spain
He was born on May 21, 1527, six years after Magellan chanced
upon Mai or Mayi, Luzon and other names referring to "Filipinas"
prior to the Spanish colonization.
More of Prince Philip's titles:
First Official King of Spain from 1556 until 1598,
King of Naples and Sicily from 1554 until 1598
King of England (as King consort of Mary) 1554-1558
King of Portugal and the Algarves 1580 to 1598
Important Details on this monarch whose name
we have for our dear Motherland:
...The rebel leader, William l, Prince of Orange (William the Silent)
was outlawed by Philip, and assassinated in 1584 by a Catholic
fanatic after Philip had offered a reward of 25,000 crowns to anyone
who killed William the Silent, calling him a 'pest on the whole of
Christianity and the enemy of the human race'.
Now we have a country known as Philippines, the only Christian
Country in the Far East (Ost-Timor is the second country competing
with us for the title).
For more interesting details on the life of this King, read Philip II
of Spain in Wikepedia and find many aspects which might be missing in many of our textbooks.
